Ethical Communities
Ethics must ultimately be rooted in the soul of an organization’s commitment to deeply rooted identity, beliefs, and values (Bolman & Deal, 2021). Ethical communities are how we view ethics through each of the four frames: structural, human resources, political, and symbolic. Each frame has its own ethical framework, and it is up to the leader to ensure that they are doing everything in their power to build their business ethically. You want people to know that your organization has everyone’s best interests in mind, whether they be employees, stakeholders, or customers.

Reflection
Ethics are essential to all organizations, no matter how big or small. We all have to make many decisions during the day, and we should do our best to make the most ethical decisions possible. Whether our decisions are at work or at home, we should be looking to positively impact those around us. There are many companies that are looking to lower their carbon footprint in order to make the planet a better place. Our organizations should promote integrity, respect, justice, and citizenship, and we should be helping to set the example within the organization.
