Team Dynamics & Collaboration
Organizations are made up of people, and in many cases, those people are on teams. This requires interaction with other people and collaboration on projects that your team might be a part of. Depending on the size of the team and the geographic location of those on your team, it can be very complex. We now have the technology to communicate and collaborate more easily, but there is nothing like being face-to-face when talking.
Team Dynamics & Collaboration in Leadership
Managing teams can be difficult, especially if you have a large team, and it only gets more difficult if your team members work from home. Being a leader means having to deal with these types of group dynamics. Knowing how to deal with groups and being good at conflict management are two things that will be extremely helpful to the leader. Collaboration is the other aspect that gets more difficult with distance in most cases. But luckily, a lot of the work that is done from home is all done on the computer and can easily be sent to anyone at any time.
Team Dynamics & Collaboration Artifact
The below artifact is from another class that I am also currently taking called PMG422 Project Quality Management. The reason why I chose this particular assignment is that it is a group assignment where I am the Team Leader. It can be difficult working in a group that is in different parts of the country or world, but today's technology makes it a lot easier to do so. This document is the plan for our final project, which is a video that isn't quite done yet.

Reflection
I’ve worked in groups multiple times during my tenure at ASU, and there have been times when some of the students had never worked in a group before. For these people, I think it is imperative that they take a class that teaches them how to work together. My experiences haven’t been great when working in groups at ASU because a few of the students either weren’t interested in working in a group or just weren’t planning on passing the class. However, I still think it is worth doing because you can put the more junior students as the leaders, so they get that experience.
I have learned to be patient in the two times I was a team leader for my group projects here at ASU. Both times I had students that would flake out and not help with the assignments. This can be very frustrating, but that’s why you do your risk management. You want to have a backup plan just in case something goes wrong. I did enjoy the projects to some extent, even with the issues that came up. I have also learned to use some of what I’ve learned at work.
